Sierra of Quatretonda

PR-V 172: Quatretonda

The municipal area of Quatretonda is an ideal place to practice trekking. There are remarkable patrimonial, ethnographic and landscape resources at your disposal.

The footpath PRV-172 runs among lime kilns, wells of snow, farmyards, swallow holes, pine trees and mountains: an spectacular landscape.

The sierra of Quatretonda can be divided into two parts, separated by a watercourse that starts in the Collet de l'Aire. When it rains, this watercourse collects water from almost the entire sierra and arrives at the Pla de Corrals.

Inhabitants from Quatretonda have traditionally used two paths to walk through the sierra. One of them is the path of the Molló and the other one goes up the mountain through the Coll de Toni and the Carassol de la Canyada. This footpath, which has around 18km, follows both paths.

On the one hand, we can do the route as a whole in approximately four hours. On the other hand, we can also cover the distance in two parts (each one in around two hours) and use the path which goes along the edge of the watercourse and links Quatretonda with the Pla de Corrals.

Along the route we can enjoy beautiful views: the entire Vall d'Albaida, the Benicadell mountain, the Sierras of Mariola and Aitana, the Buixcarró and “les Foietes”, the Montdúver, etc. At the same time, we can also admire natural spaces of spectacular beauty, such as the Molló, the Pla del Cérvol, the Pla dels Engullidors, the Bastida, the Falaguera, the Racó dels Cacaueros, the Pla de la Penya, the Carassol de la Canyada, etc.
