Salem

Salem is the penultimate stop of the route through the Benicadell towns.

Fruit, knitwear, textile products, the bottling of beverages and handcrafted espadrilles are the driving force of this town's economy. If you walk through the urban area of Salem, you will find ceramic retables from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. It is worth mentioning the Parish Church of San Miguel Archangel, a post-Renaissance work of the 17th century where the main chapel is especially remarkable.

Before leaving Salem, on the one hand, you can go to the camping and recreational area of the “Font d'Elca”, where you will find a pool and an “alcabor” (infrastructure for the collecting of water, probably from Roman times). On the other hand, you can also visit the “Molí de Salem”, where all kinds of cereals were ground in the past, such as wheat, corn, barley and chickpeas.

If you are hungry while you are in Salem, we recommend you to taste the snacks (before lunch or dinner) and the “blat picat”, as well as the “Balduino” (a cake of coffee and truffle) and the “Fabiola”, both typical desserts of this town.
