Otos

We have to leave the regional road CV-615 and take the CV-616 for some kilometres to arrive to Otos, a town located in the shady area of the Benicadell mountain, among fruit trees, vineyards and olive trees.

The main feature of this town is that the urban area is structured along the main street. The most outstanding roads are Cristo and San José. The Marquess of Otos' Palace is the most important civil building of the town. It was built in the 18th century and has recently been restored. The door built with voussoir and a series of 18 semicircular arches stand out from the palace’s façade.

The Purísima Concepción’s Parish Church and the Virgen de los Dolores’ Chapel, both built in the 18th century, are part of the monumental heritage. At the same time, especially noteworthy are the different sundials and ceramic altarpieces from the 18th and 19th centuries scattered throughout the town. “L’arròs en tanda” is one of the most relevant specialities of the Otos’ gastronomy.
