Carrícola

We have to take the regional road CV-615 to arrive to Carrícola, the second town of this route.

It is a small village with about one hundred inhabitants. Especially noteworthy are the agricultural activity of Carrícola and its important biological tradition. At the same time, it is worth mentioning the production of glass using traditional methods. The town council has just restored the old Casa Abadía as a rural hotel in order to cope with the numerous visits the town receives. The “cassoleta amb costra” and “els negocis” are the most characteristic dishes you can taste in Carrícola.

San Miguel’s Parish Church, the Calvario (with wonderful stations decorated with Valencian ceramic) and the Chapel of the Cristo del Calvario are the main works of religious architecture in Carrícola. These are different examples of the important ethnographic heritage the Benicadell towns have in their urban areas, such as sundials or ceramic retables.

You can finish your visit to this town with the “Castellet de Carrícola”, a medieval tower with square ground plan and excellent views (13th century).l.
