Beniatjar

We have to get back to the regional road CV-615 and continue our route throughout the Benicadell towns. We find Beniatjar at halfway of the route.

In its origins, Beniatjar was an old Muslim farmstead. Its appearance and the excellent framework of the Benicadell make that visitor’s stay will be a pleasant experience. Beniatjar is a good example of the close links which are among urban structure, civil architecture and rural world.

Regarding the main attractions of the town, Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación's Parish Church (17th century) is the most valuable gem. In the inside there are two retables by painter Juan de Juanes. In spite of the restorations suffered, the original Baroque characteristics can still be observed.

Your visit to Beniatjar can finish with a walk through the Calvario, with the Benicadell mountain in the background, and a visit to the ceramic altarpieces.

The “torró de gat”, the asparagus, the “rosegons” and the “fogasses” are part of this town’s gastronomy.

The natural spots of “les fontetes” and the “pont dels moros” are the ideal recreational areas to have a rest and recover one’s strength..
