Introduction

Handicrafts and local products are also part of the culture and identity of a region. Handicraft has always been part of the traditional jobs of the towns in the Vall d’Albaida region, however, these jobs are gradually disappearing due to the socioeconomic development of the region. “La Vall d’Albaida” has an important craft tradition, which today is an important tourist attractive. Regarding the local products (food and agriculture, and industrial products), we have many examples in our region. The spreading of these products will contribute positively to their promotion and commercialization.

The route we present you here will help you to know all the craft and typical products of some towns of the region, as well as their productive process. At the same time, this is a clear invitation to know the main tourist resources of these villages.

There are craft activities and typical products in the following towns of the Vall d’Albaida region:

  • Aielo de Malferit: glass, wickerwork, basketry, sale of liqueurs.
  • Albaida: soap, wax, household textile products, typical confectionery.
  • Atzeneta d'Albaida: stone carving, esparto.
  • Agullent: knitwear, typical confectionery, traditional sausages and cold meat.
  • Castelló de Rugat: handcrafted jugs.
  • Llutxent: wire netting, typical cakes.
  • L'Olleria: glass production.
  • Bocairent: blankets, knitwear, “herbero” (liqueur made with herbs), cold meat.
