Sierras of Rugat

This is a mountain range located to the east of the Umbría of the Benicadell and which arrives to the region of “La Safor” with really delightful spots. The presence of water because of the plenty of fountains and springs (La Pasta, Hedra, Ferri, El Arenal, etc.), together with viewpoints such as “el Magre” and “el Collado” (with views to the Sierra Grossa, the Benicadell and the “Racó del Duc”) form a special scenery. The highest points of the sierra, known as “els Penyes Llúcies”, contribute to the special beauty of this place.

It is worth mentioning the vegetation, with the only native palm tree to Europe: the palmetto (Chamaerops humilis), and the riverside vegetation associated to the fountains and springs.

There are recreational areas in Montixelvo (“Font de Micalet”) or Terrateig (“Font del Llop” and “Pla de los Fontetes”); the camping Natura in Rugat; and the refuge “Coll de les Planisses” in Montixelvo.
