Sierra of Covalta and the Umbría

This sierra stretches out to the west of the Umbría of the Benicadell and is home to many different and interesting ecosystems: shrub-like vegetation, formations on the rocks or woodland ecosystems such as the small (but well-conserved) pine forest of the “Ermitori de Sant Vicent” in Agullent.

The ascent to the peak of the Covalta in Albaida is another characteristic element of this mountain range, because of both the landscape value of the ascent and its cultural importance among the inhabitants of the town. The “Font del Patge”, in Benissoda, is close to this summit.

To the west, in the municipal area of Ontinyent, there are different beautiful spots such as the “Barranc dels Tarongers”, the “Molí de Patiràs”, the “Molí de la Lluna” or the “Alt de Maserra”.

At the beginning of the ravine of Bocairent there is a natural spot known as “Pou Clar”, with an important influx of tourists from Ontinyent. Because of the very steep slope and the existence of little ground in the ascent, there are only isolated examples of shrubs. Thus, you can observe a landscape whose outcrops give it a great value.

More to the west of the ravine there are shrub-like and woodland formations typical in the area, but with great presence of strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo) and rupicolous vegetation in areas where water rises. The Fountain and the House of Gamellons is another area of an important influx of visitors.
