Els Alforins

This is an agricultural valley with a great interest because of its peculiar layout, which turns it into a suitable habitat for a great number of fauna species, small birds of prey above all. The abovementioned layout consists of small plots of land in which the growing of cereals, vineyard and fruit trees are alternated. They are separated by tanks and natural margins. There can also be found some original sandy areas colonized by forests of stone pine.

In accordance with what has been previously said, the present habitats are not the most outstanding factor in the area. However, there are important examples of different plant species, such as the arborescent thickets with Juniperus; the meadows of Thero-Brachypodietea; the calcareous karstic meadows; or the dunes with forests of Pinus pinea.

Nevertheless, there are birds of prey among the most important animal species, such as Aquila chrysaetos, Bubo bubo, Circus pygargus, Falque columbarius, Falque naumanni or Falque preregrinus. At the same time, there can also be found steppe species, which are very scarce in the Valencian region, such as Burhinus oedicnemus, Melanocorypha calandra, Otis tarda, Pterocles alchata or Tetrax tetrax.
