The Town Council continues with the same way of acting about the architectural heritage and has fitted out its olive-oil mill to convert it into the Centro de Interpretación Ambiental y de la Cultura del aceite (“Environmental Interpretation and Oil Culture Centre”). The visitor can get information both from the explanatory notice boards and the audiovisual presentations.
Apart from the old machinery used for the oil production, the centre is equipped with two showing rooms. Two films are showed about the oil farming, however, since this is a very wide subject, other complementary matters are discussed. The first film tries to be interactive and offers a varied selection of subject matters, in a brief and concise way, what allows the visitor to know more about environment, farming or gastronomy. The second film, of around 20 minutes length, offers us an environmental outlook of the region.
It is worth enjoying both the silent pictures and the sound track. However, do not deceive ourselves, the analysis of the environmental problems is overwhelming, since it describes the aggressions suffered by the landscape, fauna and water. At the same time, it warns us of the dismal future perspectives. This is a critical and constructive thought that will not leave us indifferent.
