The MAOVA (Archaeological Museum of Ontinyent and the region of the Vall d’Albaida) is another museum appropriate to its time, another space magnificently located next to the medieval walls of the town. It is on the site of the old Almudín (warehouse to deposit and send wheat) and the courts of Ontinyent, at the foot of Santa María’s Church. For those who are more interested, at the entrance to the museum different books about the history of our region can be acquired. There is also a display cabinet with unexpected objects in a place like this, which invites us to think about the passage of time. The restoration of the whole collection, respectful toward the original structures, has introduced new materials. The collection has a discreet, meticulous and neat presentation. After a didactic, audiovisual presentation, a journey through time in the region is presented chronologically. The first room is dedicated to the Prehistory, and the upstairs room, to the Iberian-Roman and Medieval period.

Most of the MAOVA funds comes from the archaeological excavations made in the region by the own institution.
