In 1997, a project that was taking shape during a long time was set in motion and a space in the Fiestas Association seat was equipped to house the MUSEU FESTER (Museum of Moors and Christians Festival) of Ontinyent.
The access to the building, of local artist Salvador Mollà, is very attractive and signals the good aesthetic taste of the visit to this museum. The winning photographs of different photographic contests about Moors and Christians’ Festival make the access to the exhibition hall more pleasant. The first part of the exhibition highlights the ceremonies and elements which characterize the Ontinyent’s Fiestas. There are different elements and objects that show the origins and identities of the Fiesta: photographs; costumes which have survive the passage of time; and some images which needed to be restored to show us their content. It is worth mentioning the space dedicated to the patron saint of the Fiestas and the sideboard in memory of Ferrero, the well-known composer from Ontinyent.
The whole collection presents a perfect and harmonious mixture of modern art sculptures, and other important objects. Finally, on the second floor there is an exhibition of the different costumes of this traditional festivity.
